The Supreme Court of North Carolina will hear arguments today and tomorrow at the Historic Burke County Courthouse in Morganton. Court begins each morning at 9:30. Today's arguments include the City of Asheville vs State of North Carolina, the State vs Terrance Javarr Ross and Quality Built Homes Incorporated vs Town of Carthage. Tomorrows arguments include Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Charter School vs Cleveland County Board of Education and the State vs Tae Kwon Hammonds.  There will be a fifteen break between each of the cases.

Caldwell County Commissioners Monday, approved a request to fund an upgrade for the shared City of Lenior and Caldwell County Television Studio. The upgrade is expected to increase the TV studio's overall quality by utilizing enhanced video editing software, computer graphics, Hi-Def, and improved hardware. Commissioners agreed to appropriate more than $19,000 to the project which will come directly out of the County's General Fund Balance. Caldwell County Commissioners also heard a proclamation to declare this week as EMS week in the County and Commissioners adopted the proclamation.

Two teenagers are charged in an armed robbery at a Walgreens in Hickory. Police on Friday arrested 16-year-old Trystan Lee McClain and 17-year-old Ahmad Shakim Smith were charged with the robbery about 3:45am Thursday at the Walgreens on North Center Street. Bond on each was set at $50,000. McClain was also served with an outstanding arrest warrant for Robbery with a  Dangerous Weapon from the Granite Falls Police Department.for the armed robbery that about 3am Thursday at Murphy Express convenience store on Hickory Blvd in Granite Falls. McClain received a $50,000 secured bond in this case. Investigators with the Hickory Police Department and the Granite Falls Police Department are still actively investigating both cases.

The Western Piedmont Symphony in Hickory has selected Ingrid Keller as its new Executive Director. Keller has been employed most recently by the Newton-Conover Auditorium where she created the popular Bach's Lunch 'n' Listen lunchtime concert series and Cinema Socials movie series. Her grandfather was a symphony board member many years ago.
