The North Carolina State Highway Patrol will be stepping up its' enforcement against impaired during the New Year's holiday. Troopers will be conducting DWI checkpoints and enforcing state laws while increasing the number of officers on the interstates and heavily traveled corridors. The Highway Patrol will also be participating in the state's anti-drunk driving campaign "Booze It and Lose It". The motoring public can assist officials by reporting impaired drivers - on a mobile phone, dial *HP or *47.

McDowell DSS is seeking for a 14 year old girl. Ciera Waldrop is described as 5'2" and 110 pounds, with long dark hair and wears glasses. She has family and friends in McDowell County. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in locating 15 year old Jessica Crawford of Black Mountain. She is described as a white female, with brown hair, blue eyes, 5' and weighing 130 pounds. She may be in Burke County or Madison County.
