Fatal Fire  

A woman died early Thursday morning in a residential fire. The West End

Fire Department responded just before 3 o’clock to 5598 Farris Loop

where the home was fully involved in fire. One person was inside the

residence, unable to escape. Firefighters were unable the rescue

54-year-old Mary Louise Mode, due to the intense fire conditions.

Glen Alpine and Brendletown Fire Departments assisted West End with

mutual aide provided by Nebo, Dysartsville and Marion Fire Departments.

Also assisting the West End Women’s Auxilary, the Fire Marshal’s Office,

EMS, Sheriff’s Office and SBI. The fire originated from a heating source

inside the residence.


Lincoln Prison Sentence  

A Lincoln County Superior Court jury on Wednesday found a Lincoln

County man guilty of first degree murder and possession of a weapon

of mass destruction. 29-year-old Ronald Wayne Vaughn, Jr, was

sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
