COVID-19 Update  

Burke County reported four COVID-related deaths on Sunday. The

individuals were their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, and were hospitalized prior

to dying from COVID-related complications. That brings the total

number of COVID deaths in Burke since the panademic began to 233.

On Friday, Caldwell County reported 238 COVID cases and 5 deaths

since Wednesday. McDowell County Friday reported 47 new cases of

the virus with 489 residents in quarantine.

New Caldwell Principal

South Caldwell High has a new principal. The Caldwell County Board of

Education held an emergency meeting Thursday and approved Rob Bliss

as the school's new head administrator. A news release says Bliss will

replace Phillip Little today. Bliss has been placed on an administrative

contract until June 30th 2024. Little will take another position in the

school system. He had been principal at South for just over a year.
