COVID-19 UPDATE
Burke County Public
Health reported the 77th COVID-19 related death
on Wednesday. The patient
in their 80’s was hospitalized and later died
from COVID-19 related
complications. Burke now has 5-thousand-656
total cases of the virus,
with 1-thousand-114 active cases and 17 people
hospitalized.
McDowell County reported
45 new coronavirus cases yesterday for
a current total of
2-thousand-730 and 474 McDowell residents in quarantine.
Caldwell County reported
five COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday.
Three patients were
between 50-64, one was between 65-74 and one was
over 75. Two patients
were hospitalized and two were reported to have
underlying health
conditions. 106 new cases of coronavirus were reported
for a total of
5-thousand-297 and 61 people are hospitalized.
In Catawba County, 133
additional cases of COVID-19 were reported for
a total of
10-thousand-523, with 88 patients hospitalized.
COVID-19 Memorial
Small Christmas trees
stand in front of the Caldwell County Health and
Human Services Building
as a memorial to residents who lost their lives
from COVID-19. The display,
set up by the Caldwell County Health Department,
will remain up through
the first of the year.
