Campground Assault

A domestic disturbance at a McDowell County campground leads to the arrest of a Forest City man.

Reports with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office say deputies were called to the incident November 7th at Mountain Paradise Campground on US 221 North.

An investigation revealed 40-year-old Jason Travis Millwood had reportedly assaulted his girlfriend and broke into a neighboring camper causing damage to its door.

Millwood was charged with assault on a female, breaking and entering, and injury to personal property.


Drugs on Inmate

A Nebo man was found to possess drugs while incarcerated in the McDowell County jail.

According to the McDowell County Sheriff's Office, 31-year-old Jacob Lee McNeilly was charged with possession of a controlled substance in jail.

While McNeilly was being booked into jail November 9th, officers located 3 grams of meth on his person.


Catawba PD

A number of officers have reportedly resigned from their positions with the Catawba Police Department.

Printed reports say the town manager had confirmed six officers, including the interim chief, a major and a lieutenant have turned in their resignation.

The operating budget for Catawba Police, reports say, amounts to less than 150-thousand dollars.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office will be responding to law enforcement calls now in Catawba.
