COVID-19 UPDATE

Burke County Public Health reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday

for a current total of 3-thousand-607. Active cases number 562, with

10 patients hospitalized.

McDowell County added 17 cases of the virus for a total of 1-thousand-519.

191 people remain in quarantine.

Caldwell County reported 42 new cases of coronavirus for a new total of

3-thousand-104, with 20 people hospitalized.

And 111 new cases of COVID-19 reported Tuesday in Catawba County for

a total of 5-thousand-924, with 45 patients hospitalized.

Marion Woman Wanted for Questioning

Hickory police officers are looking for a Marion woman that is a

Person of interest in a suspicious fire there. 33-year-old Rachael

Jane Hughes, who has a possible Styles Cove Road address, is wanted

For questioning in the arson case. She is described as a white female,

5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 133 pounds and has brown hair and blue

Eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jessie Hicks

With the McDowell Sheriff’s Office at 652-2237 or McDowell

Crime Stoppers at 65-CRIME (652-7463).

Statewide Recount

The Burke County Board of Elections will conduct the statewide

re-count for the Office of NC Supreme Court Chief Justice Seat 01.

That will begin tomorrow at Noon, at the Board of Elections Office.
