Five people were arrested Monday including one of Burke County's Most Wanted. Burke County Sheriff's Officers received a tip concerning the location of 29-year-old Britton Nicole Metcalf of Morganton, who was placed on the Most Wanted list on Friday. When officers arrived at a Cobb's Place Connelly Springs residence , they found Metcalf who was charged with 2 counts of felony probation violation. Bond was set at $150,000. Others arrested at the scene on various charges include, 30-year-old Joshua Leon Barnes, 28-year-old Jessica Michelle Bollinger, & 26-year-old Thomas Wesley Bollinger Jr. all of Connelly Springs and 38-year-old Edlyn Richard Johnson Jr. of Granite Falls.

A Caldwell County woman has been charged with Second Degree Murder. The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest Monday, of 25-year-old Heather Ray Brewer of Granite Falls. Investigators received a report of abuse with physical injuries last Wednesday and the infant died to the injuries on Thursday at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte. Brewer is being held in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $1 million dollar secured bond with a first court appearance scheduled for tomorrow.

In conjunction with the Hickory Regional Airport, the Hickory Fire Department has taken delivery of a new state-of-the-art aircraft rescue vehicle. Equipped with seating for two crew members, the new rescue vehicle has a forward looking infrared camera that can be used at night and in foggy conditions to detect warm objects. The truck also has mounted generator and scene lights to additionally assist emergency personnel during nighttime responses. The vehicle can carry 500 hundred gallons of water, 60 gallons of foam, 500 pounds of dry chemical, and is capable of pumping 250 gallons per minute. The nearly $329,000 apparatus was funded by a grant from the FAA.

Deputies with the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, Patterson Fire and Rescue, and Caldwell County Emergency Services responded Monday morning to a logging accident in the 2700 block of Setzer's Creek Road in Lenoir. 51-year-old James Wilson Coffey Jr. of Lenoir was found dead at the scene. Coffey's death was caused by being struck by a falling tree and according to the Sheriff's Office, appears accidental.
