A Padlock Order was served on an East Union Street residence for criminal activity. On Friday, members of the Morganton Department of Public Safety and the Burke County Narcotics Task Force served a Civil Summons "Padlock Order" at the location of 721 East Union Street. The order comes as a result of a lengthy investigation that has occurred at this residence in the past. According to a Morganton Department of Public Safety news release, Public Safety has responded to 38 separate calls for service at this location. These calls for service include, Physical Assaults, Assaults with Firearms, Warrant Service, and several Controlled Substance Violations. The residence was previously padlocked in 2010 for the same type of violations.
A Morganton man is arrested for Soliciting a Child by Computer and Indecent Liberties. 28-year-old Sean Patrick Murphy was arrested Friday by Morganton Department of Public Safety. The investigation is ongoing and Public Safety Investigators are following up on additional leads in the case. Murphy was taken into custody without incident and received a $20,000 secured bond. A court appearance is scheduled for today.
Construction is set to begin tomorrow, for the footbridge across the Catawba River on the Catawba Falls Trail. The Trail is a popular hiking trail near Old Fort in the Grandfather Ranger District of Pisgah National Forest. The Catawba Falls Trail will remain open, but you can expect to see construction traffic in the area.
