Commissioners urged citizens to register to vote if not already registered before the primary in Tuesday night's Burke County Board of Commissioner's regular meeting. Burke County Board of Elections Director ,Debbie Mace, presented on voter registration reminding citizens that voter registration cutoff is 5pm Friday, 25 calendar days before the election. Mace said if citizens miss the cutoff date they could register and vote at early voting with the proper forms of identification. Mace claimed to be a big supporter of absentee voting by mail because it helps the elderly and college kids. Anyone who is registered to vote may vote absentee by mail. 17 year olds who will be 18 by the November election may vote in the primary. The bond is the only item on the ballot they cannot vote for. This is because if voters are under 18, they cannot vote on anything that becomes final. They will vote on candidates only for this election. Early voting begins Thursday March 3rd and runs through Saturday March 12th. For more voter information visit burkenc.org.
