Burke County Public Schools recently received three Blue Ribbon Awards for two publications and a marketing campaign from The North Carolina School Public Relations Association. Board of Education member Edna Weller, Superintendent Larry Putnam and Public Relations Officer Cheryl Shuffler accepted the awards on behalf of the school system during a January ceremony in Greensboro. In the publications category, "The Burke County Public Schools Report to the Community" received a gold award. The school system released the 16-page publication at the start of the 2015-2016 school year. Burke County Public Schools also received a silver award in marketing for the logo and tagline launch, while the the inaugural edition of the "Burke County School & Family Magazine" won a silver award in the publications category. The first Family & School Magazine was released in October and has news throughout the district featuring student and staff accomplishments, district programs and more.
