A father and son have been charged in McDowell County, after an altercation. The McDowell County Sheriff's Office Monday, charged 64 year old Thomas Howard Stafford with felony aggravated assault. Also charged was 30 year old Daniel Thomas Stafford  with one misdemeanor count each of violating a domestic violence protection order, aggravated assault and communicating threats. On Monday the 21st, Thomas and his son, Daniel, wjo live at the same Old Tom's Creek Road address, got into an argument. Daniel struck his father with a hatchet, so Thomas grabbed a handgun and fired a shot at Daniel. The bullet struck Thomas' other son, Taylor, in the left arm. He was taken to McDowell Hospital, then transferred to Mission in Asheville for treatment,
