COVID-19 Update
Burke County Public
Health reported a total of 4-thousand-775 positive
Cases of COVID-19
Tuesday, with 935 active and 19 hospitalizations.
In McDowell County, 55
additional cases for a total of 2-thousand-122
and 402 residents in
quarantine.
Caldwell County saw 64
new cases of coronavirus for a total of
4-thousand-13 and 34
hospitalizations. And in Catawba County, 248 new
cases of the virus for a
total of 8-thousand-340 and 80 people hospitalized.
Governor’s Modified
Order
Governor Cooper
implemented a modified stay at home order Tuesday
afternoon, requiring
nighttime closure for certain businesses and
activities. The order
says individuals should stay at home between
10 p.m. and 5 a.m.,
unless an exception applies, and many businesses
must close at 10 p.m. The
new executive order goes into effect Friday
at 5 p.m. and continues
through January 8th at 5 p.m.
SBA Loans
Businesses and residents
in Caldwell, Catawba, Alexander, Iredell and
Wilkes Counties, who were
affected by Tropical Storm Eta, on
November 12th,
can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the
U.S. Small Business Administration.

Missing Lenoir Man
The Lenoir Police
Department is seeking the public’s help in finding
72-year-old Jerome
Taylor, who was last seen November 30th, on
the 1100-block of
Fairview Drive. He was last seen wearing a dark
jacket with blue jeans
and was carrying a cane. He may be in the
Hickory area. Anyone with
information is asked to call Lenoir Police
at 828-757-2100.
Reward for Information in
Arson Case
The owner of Lake Norman
RV Resort is offering a reward of $5,000 for
any information and
testimony that leads to the arrest and conviction of
the person or persons involved
in the arson, that occurred November 1st.
The Catawba County
Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fire at the office
which resulted in heavy
damage. It is suspected that the person inside
the business suffered
burns. Also, a vehicle was awaiting on the roadway
that is suspected of
picking up the person captured on video walking away
from the scene of the
fire. Anyone with information is asked to contact the
