State Highway Patrol officials continue to investigate a fatal crash that happened Saturday night on US 221 in the Glenwood community of McDowell County.

Reports say when paramedics arrived on the scene multiple patients were injured; while one was pronounced deceased.

Mission Air flew one patient with life-threatening injuries to Mission in Asheville.

One other person was taken by ground ambulance to Mission in Asheville also with life-threatening injuries.

Names have not yet been released, nor the cause of the accident.



A Nebo woman wanted in a car theft that occurred in March has been captured and charged by McDowell lawmen.


Louis and Alisa Peterson of Marion reported their 2006 Nissan taken from the parking lot of Doug’s Garage on March 18th.

Alisa Peterson then spotted her stolen vehicle on March 26th following and confronting the driver identified as 40-year-old Tomoka Shenee Young.

Young reportedly left after being confronted by the owner and was not located until late May.

She was then taken into custody and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.

The Nissan valued at 4-thousand dollars was recovered.



An unlicensed driver is found with marijuana and other drugs during a traffic stop.

32-year-old Felisha Marie Rausch of Nebo was stopped by a McDowell officer for driving without a license.

A search of her vehicle turned up 1-point-6 grams of marijuana and 18 oxycodone pills.

Rausch was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule-two controlled substance and driving while license revoked.



Lincoln County deputies were called to two unrelated stabbing incidents over the weekend.

Friday night just before 9, officers responded to a reported domestic situation in Iron Station.

Kendrick Chazz Prather was discovered on scene with several stab wounds.

Reports say Prather attempted to intervene in an assault in which 51-year-old Brian Keith McDonald had struck a female causing her to lose consciousness.

McDonald then reportedly proceeded to stab Prather.

A news release states McDonald fled into a wooded area and was apprehended the next morning.

He is charged with assault on a female, and felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

McDonald was jailed under a 40-thousand dollar bond.

Meanwhile, on Saturday Lincoln deputies were called to a residence on Topaz Lane where they found Barron Lynn Smith with several stab wounds.

The suspect, 34-year-old Zachary Allen Clinkscales of Kannapolis had already fled the scene.

A warrant for his arrest on assault charges was issued; however, he has not yet been apprehended.
