A neighbor has been taken into custody for the murder of
a Morganton man. On Tuesday, Morganton Public Safety reported the arrest of
Darius Heasley King, who was charged with one count of murder.
Investigators found bloody clothes and a knife in a
dumpster near the Valdese Avenue apartment where Hubert Roland Hunter, Jr. was
found deceased Sunday night. King was known to have disagreements with the
victim, according to a news release from City of Morganton Public Information.
An additional search warrant at King's residence, which
is across the hall from Hunter's, revealed evidence of the crime.
King was placed in the Burke Catawba Detention Facility
under no bond with a first court appearance scheduled for today.
A Statesville man, who had active warrants, is taken into
custody in Burke County.
Investigators last week received a report that
29-year-old Michael Terrell Borders was at an address on Nobby Lail Road in
Connelly Springs. Federal and local agencies located Borders at that address
where he was taken into custody.
Borders, who had warrants for three felony charges, was
placed in the Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $120,000
secured bond.
The U.S.Marshals Office assisted the Burke County
Sheriff's Office in the case.
