North Carolina's congressional district map must be withdrawn quickly. The Associated Press reports that federal judges ruled Tuesday that the map drawn by legislative Republicans is illegally gerrymandered because of excessive partianship that gave the GOP a rock-solid advantage on most seats. The ruling marks the second time since 2010 that the GOP's congressional boundaries in the state have been thrown out by a three judge panel. The judges ordered that the General Assembly approve another set of districts by January 24th. Candidate filing for the November congressional elections is February 12th.
