Morganton Public Safety and rescue crews responded to a traffic crash with injuries, late Thursday afternoon, at the intersection of Collette and College Streets. Officers discovered a "crossover"SUV had flipped on its' side and a passenger sedan had extensive, front end damage. Two adults and four children occupied the SUV, and of the children, a 4-year old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The others, as well as the driver of the sedan were transported to CHS Morganton with non-life threatening injuries. The child's name and other occupants names are being withheld pending notification of family members. No charges have been filed pending completion of the crash investigation and consultation with the District Attorney's Office.
