A local high school was suspended last week for making threats against the school. A school resource officer was advised a made a threat of committing violence at Patton High last Wednesday. A release from the Burke County Sheriff's Office states the student was suspended and the officer began an investigation. The school was placed under an increase in law enforcement's presence and awareness. Investigation results have been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice and to the District Attorney's office to determine if charges will be pursued. Reports show the investigation did not produce any evidence that the student had a weapon on school property.
The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office is looking for a Wanted Person. Marvin Clarence Chester,45, is wanted for Interfering with his Electronic Probation Ankle Monitor and has charges pending for Failing to Notify the Sheriff of his Change of Address as a sex offender. Chester is described as a white male, 5' 11", and 170 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office at 828-758-2324 or Crime Stoppers at 758-8300.
A Caldwell County woman was killed Saturday morning, as the result of a single-vehicle accident near Black Mountain. Amanda Brigman, 29, died when her vehicle went down an embankment and hot a tree in the westbound lanes near Mile Marker 61. The State Highway Patrol told WLOS-TV that a child in the vehicle was taken to the hospital.
