A new supper program has begun at a Burke County School cafeteria. Mountain Crest Elementary School's cafeteria is now serving three square meals a day. Chartwells and Burke County Public Schools recently added a supper program at the school, which previously served only breakfast and lunch to students. The supper program is open to anyone in the community and is free to all children ages 3-18 and $3 for adults. The hot meal is served between 4 and 5 Monday through Friday and includes an enrichment activity for children. The program is federally funded through the USDA, and officials state the free supper is a great opportunity for faith-based organizations who hold Wednesday evening services to take advantage of the program and visit Mountain Crest as a group for a meal.
