The Catawba County Sheriff's Office continues to resolve the issue with the water at the Caldwell County Detention Center. On Sunday morning, a total of 156 inmates were transferred to four other facilities in the area with no issues. A plan has been established to return the inmates to the Caldwell Detention Center as as repairs are completed. Maintenance crews are in the process of obtaining parts required to repair the problem and will conduct inspections to ensure that any leaks have been repaired. The issue arose from a faulty pressure reduction valve for the facility that will have to be replaced. Once the valve has been replaced, repairs will be made to lines and fixtures that were damaged by the increased pressure.
