Traffic had to be detoured Wednesday morning on U.S.Highway 70, after a fire at Bingham Storage in Valdese. The Morganton News Herald reports that one storage building with 40 units burned. Burke County Fire Marshal told the paper that the cause of the fire was accidental, but the investigation is continuing. No injuries were reported. Numerous fire departments responded including, Triple Community, Valdese, Chesterfield, Drexel, Enola, Hickory, Longview, Lovelady, North Catawba, Oak Hill, Rhodhiss, Salem, along with Valdese Police and Burke EMS & REACT.

A Nebo couple has been charged after four children in the home test positive for methamphetamine.
The McDowell County Sheriff's Office Wednesday, charged 29 year old Kimberly Dawn Lowery and 27 year old Nathan Todd Vallini with four counts each of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. The children - ranging in ages from 4 to 12 - were living in the residence with the suspects and tested positive for meth.

Lenoir-Rhyne University's Business Council honored Judy White, President of Benco Steel, Inc., as Business Leader of the Year during an awards luncheon Wednesday, at Lake Hickory Country Club. White is an industry-leading senior executive and has served as President of Benco Steel since September 1999. The company is an independent, regional steel service center serving the Carolinas.
