A Valdese man has been charged after a multi agency investigation. 53 year old James Edward Stovall has been charged with the solictitation of a child by computer to commit indecent liberties with a child. Reports state Stovall was placing ads on a media website soliciting teenage minors for sexual encounters. The covert surveillance and online investigation of Stovall involved the Burke County Sheriff's Office, Boone Police and Valdese Police. Stovall's bond was set at $50,000 with a court appearance scheduled today.

A Morganton man, who the Burke County Sheriff's Office had been attempting to locate, has been arrested in High Point. Around 5:15PM Friday, a High Point Police Officer conducted a traffic stop off I-74 West. It was discovered that the Ford Escape had been reported stolen in Burke County. One of the occupants was 26 year old Wesley "Clay" Rhom, Jr. He faces numerous charges with a secured bond of $140,000 and a court appearance scheduled February 5th.
