A man, riding his bicycle, was struck and killed as the result of a hit-and-run, Thursday night in Burke County. WBTV reports that the person who hit the man on Old Highway 18 left the scene. The victim's name has not been released, but reports indicate he was in his 50's. The Morganton News Herald Reports that about 15 minutes after the hit-and-run, another accident occurred in the same area when two vehicles collided, sending 1 person to an area hospital.

Hickory Police have made an arrest from a shooting Thursday afternoon. Just after 1 o'clock officers responded to a shots fired call in the 600 block of 17th Street Drive NW. Officers found 45 year old Phillip Eugene McLean dead at the scene. Police have charged 20 year old Lakeith Marchaun Lawrence with Felony Murder. The investigation is ongoing. A 41 year old Lenoir man was convicted of multiple drug charges in Burke County Superior Court on Wednesday. The jury found Jerry Lamont Lindsay guilty of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine after a two day trial. Superior Court Judge Jeffrey P.Hunt sentenced Lindsey to serve 7-9 years. Lindsey's status as a habitual felon added to his active prison sentence with prior felony convictions in Caldwell County in 2010, 1993 and 1992.
